I’m not here to talk about NAB (National Australia Bank) though, they’ve received plenty attention from the press lately with their decision to scrap fees on everyday accounts, I’m here to talk about the new kid on the block – UBank.

UBank is seeking to connect with it’s customers on a much more personal level. Every word, every sentence structure, every phrase has been meticulously and strategically written.

Brand Association

The new UBank brand is seeking to create a sense of comfort and familiarity by associating itself with NAB wherever possible.

If you look closely you’ll notice that even their repeated logo on the website background has the powerful tagline ‘backed by NAB’. Of course there must be some legal reasoning behind this, but for any new bank, or new business for that matter, establishing comfort, familiarity and trust with its customers or prospective customers is of very high importance.

UBank is one of the first Australian banks to offer Skype as a means of contacting them.
“Skype – Always Open”.
UBank is a bank to watch. Now, establishing a brand is one thing… but brand management is another. Let’s see how they do!
